healthy new year's party foods

New Year’s Eve parties for the whole family are a great way to ring in the new year. This year, I’m excited to be celebrating with some other great families on our block. No baby sitters to hire, no cabs to hail, no over-priced prix fixe dining. Just a good old time with family and friends.

It’s also the perfect time to start all those healthy habits that you want to focus on in the new year. You can still have fun doing it. I promise.

In fact, having more fun with meals should be one of everyone’s new year’s resolutions. Here are three that I’m focusing on this year:

    • Offer lots of colorful variety: lots of fruits and veggies at every meal!
    • Keep portions small: small portions are less intimidating to kids and make it less likely that everyone (ahem, I’m talking to myself here) will overeat.
    • Have fun with meals: mealtime is often too stressful; keep it fun and relaxed. We all need a better relationship with mealtime.
